Get That Homework Done

9:57pm

We are emphasizing the importance of “finishing strong” to Tad.  He’s got a handful of missing assignments that need to be turned in for his history class.

Some of these assignments have been ones that he’s worked on in class, and some have been art drawings.  But others have been really wordy assignments and required me to sit down with him and type.

And there’s a lot of time where I’m typing and he “wanders off”… more like he hides, hoping I’ll finish the assignment for him.

There’s a lot of “I already passed 7th grade, get back here!” being yelled in this house.

Happy Father’s Day 2019

12:04am

The kids think they have a pretty awesome Dad.

I think he’s pretty awesome, too.

Happy Father’s Day to the Webmaster, and to all the other dads out there!

Blue Suede Shoes

10:52pm

Ane wanted a pair of Vans shoes.  She didn’t care about style or color or any of that – she wanted a name brand on her feet.  Even a talk with Auntie and me calling her “Madame Blueberry” didn’t deter her.

What was deterring her was the price.  Vans are not a cheap shoe.  And I told her straight up that she has plenty of shoes (SHE DOES, and they are ALL OVER THE HOUSE), so if she wanted a pair, it was on her dime after she paid her bills.

However, I also know where a good bargain can be found.  So we hit up Nordstrom Rack, home of name brands and random bargains.

Lo and behold, there were Vans.  After ascertaining her correct size, she fell in love with a very affordable pair of teal suede lace-up sneakers.

At least her feet have stopped growing, so she will be able to wear these shoes for a long, long time.  And they really were a good price, so I can’t give her too hard of a time about it.

*sigh* Teenagers.

Stinkin’ Hot

9:44pm

Well, we made it through the heat wave that gripped the area over the last couple of days.  It got over 90 degrees yesterday!

The Webmaster brought our stand-up air conditioner into the house, but we didn’t get it set up before the cooling down began.

We are prepared for summer with a supply of sunscreen and I just ordered a sun hat for Thumper.  While his brothers turn brown, he freckles like his sister.  He is going to need a good hat, especially because he really loathes sunscreen and tries to wipe it off when I put it on him.  (I still win those battles.)

I don’t mind a really hot day… unless it doesn’t cool down at night.  THOSE are the days that are the toughest.  But the kids can smell summer in the air, and it’s only adding to their end-of-the-school-year fever.
