Curled Up With A Good Book

6:11pm

Ane loves the online comic strip “Strange Planet” (which is both hilarious and perfectly age-appropriate).  The author released his first book, and Ane had it pre-ordered from Barnes & Noble the second it was announced.

It arrived today.

I guess homework can wait when you have a new comic book to read!

Art Of The Week: Moonlight Moth

5:57pm

If you’ve noticed that Tad’s art of the week posts have become a little less frequent, there’s a reason for that.

First, his school art club is on a break until after Thanksgiving.

Second, he’s finally embracing the concept of longer-term projects in art class.  But he finished one yesterday!

I love the detail that went into this moth – and into painting the background.  I’m very proud of him.

Whispering In My Ear

5:51pm

There’s a little boy in the house… let’s call him Thumper… who is IN LOVE with the Disney+ service.  He found out that there were classic cartoons now on Mama’s phone and her iPad, and his desire to hack those devices increased tenfold, if such a thing was possible.

Sunday night, Thumper was glued to my side, whispering “I watch a Disney?  I watch a Disney?  YES.”

Sometimes, all you can do is simply embrace the monster of your own creation, and enjoy watching Goofy learn how to fish and swim and ski, again and again and again.

Flashback Friday

2:20am

Monday was Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa’s 30th wedding anniversary!  I still remember their wedding so clearly – I was 11 years old, and all the grandchildren between the two families – at least, those of us who were old enough – were in the wedding.

So, here’s Ressis (junior bridesmaid), my mother (who was matron-of-honor), and me (candlelighter) at the wedding, in 1989.  Please keep reminding yourselves, as you look at this picture, that this was 1989.

I don’t have a picture of Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa at the wedding in my digitized photos yet, but here they are from this last Easter, with me and Auntie.  Auntie was born a few years after they got married, so Great-Grandpa has always been a part of her life.

Happy anniversary, Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa!!!
