Last Day Of Camp… Now What?

7:22pm

Today is the last day of summer camp for Rerun.

Camp has been an absolute blessing and success this summer.  Rerun has slowly adjusted from being nearly feral to being mostly human, with improved social awareness.  The counselors have been great, and really, leadership should be crowing about the success that they have had here.

Rerun has been happy, active, and social for the last four weeks.  Now… I don’t know what will happen.  He cried as we left camp today.  I cried a little, too.  I know he can’t put it into words, but Rerun has caught a glimpse of why he needs friends.

And now he probably won’t see anyone his age until who-knows-when because of school being closed….

Super Crafty Mom Work

3:12pm

I’ve been busy.  You make one mask for a kid, then they ALLLLLLLL want one.  Or more.

I bet you can tell whose is whose.  Now only Thumper is waiting for his own personalized masks…

Drive Thru Party

7:06pm

One of the hardest things about the current situation is not being able to socialize as much.

One of Tad’s friends, Lane, had a drive thru birthday parade instead of a party.  The good news is that a lot of people joined the parade.  And Tad had one of his masks on him, so he jumped out of the car to actually get a picture with Lane.

I am making plans for Tad’s birthday, and I’m hoping that I can pull it off and have it be entirely outdoors so he can have friends over!

Tad Does Chores

2:03am

Tad’s therapist H (and she needs a better name than just H for the blog, especially since she is going to be with Tad for LIFE) and I agreed that the teenage lug needs to start doing some regular chores around here.

He was not thrilled.  But he’s doing them.

He helps me fold towels – which means rolling up the swim towels and putting them in the swim bags.  And he vacuums.

He has to start somewhere, and this is a good place to start!
