Art Of The Week – Pumpkin Still Life, Part 1

7:20pm

One of the things I am constantly telling Tad is that he doesn’t have to RUSH in art class.  Some of his very best work comes when he takes the time to do something, instead of doing something FAST.

So while we will need to wait for the end result, I am very happy to see such a detailed beginning.

Stay tuned for part 2 next week!

Let The Baking Begin!

7:00pm

One of the downsides of summer (aside from my insanely hectic schedule), is that it’s too hot to bake comfortably.  I can still do it in the evenings when the day has been not too hot, but it’s just different.

Well, the weather has changed, and the oven is back on.

Most of this pan went to Thumper’s teachers and other staff at his school (because the way to a teacher’s heart is with treats; I have learned this well), and we all celebrated the beginning of fall and the baking season that is coming.

Happy 80th Birthday, Batman!

6:50pm

Saturday was the day that Warner Brothers/DC Comics had designated as “Batman Day.”  The character has been around 80 years – his debut issue was in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939.  I don’t know why we’re now celebrating in September, but I don’t make the rules.

As far as Tad was concerned, this was on par with a national holiday, and we needed to celebrate.  The best I could do was stopping at our local Barnes & Noble to partake in their (admittedly cheesy) Batman Day activities.  Which means there were coloring pages, sticker sheets, and a photo backdrop that you could pose with.

The two older boys took this very seriously.

Thumper… not so much.

Yeah, he’s not really into the whole “dark and tortured soul” bit.  Not his thing.  He’s more of a LEGO Batman Movie fan.

Flashback Friday

1:40am

Two years have gone by since Rerun was toothless.

I loved this stage so much.

Rerun has lost six teeth total so far – he seems to be kind of taking his time.  Thumper is now six and a half, and only now is one of his baby teeth developing a definite wiggle.  Given all of Thumper’s dental issues, I’m hoping to keep his future adult teeth in very good condition once they get here.
