It blows my mind, because it took a long time to happen, and yet… MY BABY LOST A TOOTH.

Thumper’s front right bottom incisor had been wiggly for a while, but wasn’t bothering him and didn’t seem to want to move.  And unlike other kids, he had no inclination/idea to work the wiggle to lose the tooth to give to the Tooth Fairy… because this is Thumper we are talking about, who lives in his own little musical world.

And that was fine… until I saw that the permanent tooth had broken through BEHIND the baby tooth.

Now we had a shark tooth situation on our hands, and that meant that the Webmaster and I needed to start wiggling that tooth every time we brushed Thumper’s teeth.

After about 5 days of wiggling, I called the Webmaster in to hold Thumper’s head still last night, because I couldn’t get a good grip on the tiny little tooth.  Once his head was still and his mouth was open, I began wiggling and pushing.

And I felt the tooth GIVE just a little more than it had been.

I yelped, “I think I can pull it!” and a few seconds later, the tooth was out, the Webmaster and I were high-fiving each other, and Thumper was utterly confused.

He’s also not sure why his brothers were so pleased that a quarter appeared under his pillow.

Well, the first tooth is out with minimal drama!  May all his future teeth leave his mouth this painlessly.

It’s not enough that they look alike.  Now they’re dressing alike, too.

Rerun does think Pokemon – and Pikachu in particular – is fun to watch (he’s never played the card game or the video game, since we don’t have a Nintendo), so he has some fun Pikachu shirts.  Which means as he grows, Thumper gets to wear some fun Pikachu shirts.  This is what happens when you have older brothers and have to wear hand-me-downs.

Ane just finished reading “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley for English class.  (Definitely not a book she would have picked on her own.)

So, we figured that as a reward for getting through the book, she should sit down and watch “Young Frankenstein” with us.  She had seen bits and pieces, but never the full movie straight through.

The biggest laughs from Ane’s perspective:
– finding the private library with the “How I Did It” book
– the scene with the blind man (she did a double take when we mentioned she knew who the actor was, and then she cracked up)
– the “Puttin’ on the Ritz” dance sequence

I do think she thinks her parents have a warped sense of humor, though.

And happy birthday to Great-Grandma!  We love you so much!

Okay, now we’re going to go waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back.  Even further back than little Ane and baby Tad.

Who is this pink bunny, checking out the candy on Halloween?

Yes, this is me, on my second Halloween.  I was just 13 months old, so this was my first Halloween where I dressed up properly and went trick-or-treating.  I’m sitting on the couch at my Obachan and Ojiichan’s house (where I probably hauled in a load of candy, knowing my Ojiichan).  I dug this photo up in an old album of Obachan’s that she passed along to me.

My sisters would go on to be Halloween pink bunnies as well, and I think a niece or two may have worn this costume as well.  But as far as flashbacks go, this is going back a few decades!
