Thumper Gets Sick Again

9:18pm

Poor little Thumper.  He spiked a fever last Friday, and spent the day at home on the couch, trying to relax and bliss out on Star Wars and a playlist of 20th Century Fox videos.

Fortunately, the fever broke by Saturday afternoon, but he was still fighting a bad cough.  So the Webmaster and I traded off for church on Sunday.  I went to first service with the older three kids, then brought Rerun home with me.  The Webmaster then went to church, while the teenagers were in Sunday school.  It ended up working out pretty well.

I’m glad to say the cough is greatly diminished, and I think Rerun is well on the mend now.  Good thing, because he has Valentine’s parties this Friday!

Ane, Licensed Driver

9:15pm

Well, it happened.  The Webmaster took Ane to the DMV on Saturday, and she officially got her license.

The insurance officially kicked in today, so she took the keys and went… to church to babysit.

The Webmaster and I are still trying to figure out how we are old enough to have a teenager who drives.

Rerun’s Recorder Concert

10:04pm

Rerun’s 4th grade class had their music concert today, along with a couple of other 4th grade classes and one 3rd grade class.

Imagine over sixty kids playing recorders, xylophones, and drums.  You get the idea.  It actually wasn’t bad, and they kept it short (about 30 minutes).  Rerun did very well, played his recorder with everyone, but the kid has an internal rhythm that had him dancing when he wasn’t playing his recorder.

He really does dance to his own beat, but at least he has moves and CAN dance.  What I didn’t need was him looking at me between songs and mouthing “HI MOM, I’M BEHAVING” each time.

Oh well, I guess it’s better than the alternatives.

Flashback Friday

8:05pm

I can hardly believe that a year ago, we were deep (and I mean DEEP) in the grip of Snowmaggedon.

This last round of snow was nothing compared to THAT.  We nearly had two solid weeks off of school, plus midwinter break.

By the end, it was just ridiculous.  Plus all the makeup days made it worse.

I’m really glad that kind of snow is a once-every-ten-years-ish event around here.
